Why Choose Us?

Real First Aid provides First Aid training...with a difference.

  • The crux of Real First Aid is providing practical and progressive first aid training; ensuring that all candidates know what they need to know and how to do it...as simply and effectively as possible.
  • The emphasis is on knowing what to do and doing it well...even if you don't have the 'proper' equipment to hand.
  • The courses are Jargon Free;  there is no unnecessary medical terminology to get in the way of learning...there is very little focus on numbers...candidates will learn that it is how well the sling does its job rather than how neat the bandaging is that is important.
  • All courses are taught on a mix of theory and practical with a heavy emphasis on Scenarios which provide a contextual setting to aid learning.   Learning by doing is not only the most effective way of learning for most but it is also the most effective at making the learning last...which is good considering you probably attend a First Aid course no sooner than every 3 years!  That's a lot of time to forget!
  • Every effort is made to discuss your needs and your situation to ensure that you get what you need of of each course.  Courses can be delivered anywhere in the country - even at your place of work.
  • we specialise in Remote medical training.  Whilst this originally meant working or playing in adventurous places far from help the ethics are equally appropriate for many industrial settings such as construction sites or refining plants where a minor incident can have profoundly severe outcomes and the 'remoteness' of being far from help on a large site further complicates the situation.   We have a capability to work with H&S delegates to provide trade or site specific training in high risk industrial environments.

And this is the result. A fresh approach to delivering First Aid with the onus on practical and enjoyable learning that will last.

Why is this so important?

For Individuals:

While many people choose to become trained in First Aid a large majority see it is an obligation - often to satisfy another qualifications such as an instructing qualification or sports award.  The importance of practical training is to ensure that the candidate gets exactly what they need from the course.  If you are giving up a weekend for a First Aid course at the very least you would want to enjoy it!

A further benefit of actually enjoying a training event is that you are more likely to a) become more receptive to the knowledge and skills and b) you will retain the knowledge for longer.  This is particularly important while most first aid certificates are valid for 3 years...yet practical skills will deteriorate by up to 80% if not used or practiced in as little as 6 weeks.

For Employers:

First Aid training is even more of an obligation in the workplace. It is little surprise then that First Aid training is not seen as a treat for those who have to attend.

In almost every industry staff are an organisation's most valuable asset and will respond well to investments made in their training. If that training is dull uninteresting and irrelevant what message does that send to the employees? If the training is fresh engaging and applicable this will have a positive effect of the staff you are investing in.
