Adam Gent BSc (hons) PGCE FRGS

Director & Principle Trainer

Adam set up REAL First Aid with the simple aim of providing the best First Aid training available. Adam is a qualified teacher, a Full Member of the Royal College of Surgeons Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care and Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. Adam has held an Emergency Medical Technician award since 2003 and has been a First Aid trainer for Remote Emergency Care since 2001.

As an Outdoor Instructor, Adam has over 10 years instructing experience in climbing, mountaineering and watersports and has worked with groups of all all ages and backgrounds although he specialises in working with disengaged young people and those with challenging behaviour.  Adam has climbed and travelled around most of Europe, Tanzania, Goa, the Dominican Republic and north America.

Adam also lectures in Leadership, Team Work and Team Development at Pembrokeshire College.

 

 

Dr Alun Richardson IFMGA, PGCE

Mountain and Expedition Advisor

Alun is an IFMGA Mountain Guide, MIA and BCU inland and sea kayak coach. Alun is the Training officer for Mountaineering Ireland and also works closely with Jagged Globe on their Expedition programme and alpine programme. He started climbing aged 20 has spent more than 25 years rock climbing, big walling, mountaineering, ice climbing, ski touring, guiding and instructing in the UK, Europe, USA, Alaska, The Pamirs, Tien shan, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, China, Argentina, Ecuador, Peru, Greenland and the Himalaya. He has put up over fifty new rock climbs in Pembrokeshire, made the first British ascent of Pik Korshenyevskya and Paralungbi East and has opened new routes in the Szechuan mountain range of China and in South East Greenland. In 2008 he led an expedition to kayak and climb in the Schweitzerland Alps of South East Greenland.

He has been an MLTUK approved trainer and assessor of the SPA, MLA (summer) and the WGL awards for more than 15 years.

In addition to his climbing exploits he is a writer and proffesional standard photographer with his images being published in On the Edge, Mountain, Climbing, Climber and Rambler and many other magazines and books.

 

 

Dave Brown BSc. (hons) PGCE

Whitewater Advisor

Dave has Kayaked, Climbed, Skied, Mountaineered, Surfed and Coached throughout Europe, North and South America, Asia, Africa and New Zealand and has over 20 years experience working and playing in the Outdoors. He is a British Canoe Union (BCU) Level 5 Inland Kayak Coach, Level 5 Sea Coach, Aspirant Level 5 Surf Kayak Coach, Grade 5 Assessor and Training Director for Coach Education and Safety Courses as well as being an Assessor Trainer. He is also an MLTS Winter Mountain Leader and MLTUK International Mountain Leader as well as Mountain Instructor Certificate (MIC) trained.

Dave is also an inspector for Canoe Wales (WCA) accredited centres, an Internal Verifier and Quality Assurance Officer for the WCA and an Appointed Internal Verifier and Moderator for the National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS). Dave's experience in the Outdoor and Adventurous Training arena has allowed him to offer his knowledge to others as a Technical Advisor for AALS registered centres who seek advice on risk assessments, operating procedures and technical matters for many aspects of Mountaineering, Climbing, Gorge Walking, Coasteering, Kayaking and Canoeing amongst other activities. Dave has also been involved in writing for Governing Body magazines, websites and reviewing books and equipment.

Through his involvement with governing body awards, Dave has also got involved with the Committee of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI) and conducts Continuous Professional Development workshops for Coasteering on their behalf.
